Constructing the now famous 90 degrees L Twin of Fabio Taglione, Ducati soon turned to racing with the new bike. On the base of the 750 GT Taglione constructed almost by gut feeling the 750 Super Sport equipped with Ducati’s renowned desmodromic valves. In the everlasting search for horsepower specially in the competition of these years, the capacity of the 750 was soon enlarged to 864 almost 900cc, with a high compression rate of 10.5 : 1. The 750 still had a round case engine, the 900 was designed with a more square engine case.
